- I have a rather complicated question that I want to ask regarding the sony pfm-42v1 that I don't think has been addressed. Because of the lack of inputs on the panel, i was wondering what the best way of connecting both a progressive scan DVD player and an HDTV receiver is. My initial intent was to connect the DVD player using a VGA-RCA component cable and connecting the HDTV box over the DVI connection. However, after purchasing the display i learned that the DVI port is not HDCP compliant. Will the cable box still work? Any suggestions are greatly appretiated.
- I have a Sony KE37XS910 and my kids left the t.v. on after turning off the H.D. tuner. The t.v. was on for about 10 hours without receiving any signal in video 6 (H.D.Tuner)without any static images just snow. How much damage was caused by this mistake. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
- Is there a way to remove the base on the Sony KE-32TS2 when mounting it on the wall?
- Having read your review, I have just got a Sony KE-42M1 Plasma YV and I'm very pleased with it. However when I first turned it on a black vertical stripe appered on the screen. After a few minutes it suddenly disapeared. I didn't se it for about 30 hours and had allmost forgotten it. But this evening it went back when I turned the unit on. Just like the first time it disappered after 3-4 minutes. Should I be worried - and return the unit while the 30 day return warranty is valid - or is this a normal behavior for a plasma screen ? Thanks Michael
- I recently purchsed a brand new SONY KE42M1, and sometimes the black level is not all that clear. I wonder if it's because of that when the delivery movers brought the tv in, they had to flip it to the side way (not face down, but on the side) in order to turn the corner. Does that ruin the picture? Thanks
- I'm interested in the Sony PFM-42V1, but I doubt they are stocked by retail stores. Is there a consumer model that uses the very same glass, so that I may be able to see one in a store?
- I am considering a Sony KDE-42XS955. While I plan on getting HD from my cable company, we mostly watch tv signals through our digital cable content and DVDs. I am also going to use the TV as my monitor for my iMac. I can't find professional reviews of this TV anywhere? Plus, because I have a friend who works for Sony, I can get it for $3700. Is this a good TV? Thanks.

The easiest solution is to use an A/V receiver with component switching or buy a simple black box component switch. Some upconverting DVD players do not require the HDCP compliance through DVI. So you could use the component inputs for the HD and DVI for the DVD player.

Displaying snow on the plasma for any length of time would not cause any damage. No need to punish the kids.

Simple answer is yes. All plasmas can be wall mounted. Directions are ususally in the owners manual or wall mount kit instructions.

Intermittent problems are very tricky. You may want to contact both Sony's technical support and your dealer as this may lead to further problems down the road.

It is difficult to determine what the problem may be based on your statement. However, re-orienting a plasma in any direction will not hurt it. The emphasis on keeping them vertical is to prevent the glass from breaking or cracking during transit in a vehicle.

The closest model in Sony's product line found in stores is the KE-42M1.

It is a good product; however, I am not a big fan of any of the ALiS panel plasmas like this one using the 1024x1024 resolution. I prefer the XBR series over the XS series in the 37" and 42" sizes. The ALiS panel requires to much scaling for nearly all incoming signals to have a very clear picture.
